Bricks salvaged from the original façade and then reassembled to clad the column bases lend the new front porch a lived-in look. The copper caps on the columns and posts were custom fabricated by Carroll M. Ficklin Roofing of Gaithersburg, Md. The siding and trim is FSC-certified eastern white cedar. Landis Construction of Washington, D.C., which designed and built the porch, used Lyptus for the decking. This
