Nearly one-quarter of builders surveyed by the National Association of Home Builders have used remote-controlled aerial drones on their construction sites, but most builders aren't ready to take to the skies quite yet. More than one-third (34%) said they were not aware than drones have been used on construction sites, so the aerial camera and video platforms have a way to go before they are in common use. In fact, 38% of those polled said they were "not at all likely" to use drones to record progress on building projects over the next three years. Only 20% said they were "very likely" to use the devices. Large companies are much more likely to make use of the devices than small ones: 43% of the builders who started more than 100 residential units in 2015 had used drones, while only 12% of the companies with fewer than six units started that year had used them.
