The National Association of Home Builders has just released its estimates of improvements to owner-occupied housing, broken down by zip code. Estimates for home-improvement spending are available for 25,000 zip codes. For full access, you'll have to spend $699; broad estimates at the state level are free. In 2015, the zip code with the highest remodeling spending was in Maryland, where owners averaged $275,000 in income and 91% were college educated. The next four slots all were in Texas.
