Rainwater and gray-water harvesting is the top outdoor-living trend identified by landscape architects, according to a survey conducted by the American Society of Landscape Architects. The results of this year's survey showed that outdoor designers lean heavily toward sustainability. Many of the items on the top 10 list have to do with water conservation or water management, including using native and drought-tolerant plants, using permeable paving, installing rain gardens, reducing lawn areas, and using efficient irrigation systems.
