A few years ago, capped composite decking was a premium product that occupied a relatively small niche at the high end of the market. Over the past few years, however, capped composite decking has captured the lion's share of the market for synthetic decking, at the expense of both cellular PVC and uncapped composite decking. Can it be possible that Timbertech and Tamko are the only two manufacturers who are still offering uncapped WPC decking?

According to Principia's latest Residential Decking and Railing Report, the market share for uncapped composite decking has decreased from about 40% in 2012 to less than 15% in 2015. Principia forecasts that the total market for composite decking will continue to grow at a 5% annual rate through 2017. Total demand for residential decking and railing products in North America exceeded $4.1 billion in 2014.
