A birthday party for a group of senior citizens who were spending the winter in Florida was derailed when the second-floor deck underneath them collapsed, sending 11 of them to the hospital. The incident happened at the Sand Piper Cove condo complex in Destin, which is located on Florida's panhandle. According to a statement from the local sheriff's office, six victims were taken to Destin Emergency Care and five were taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Two of the victims received "significant, but non-life threatening" injuries. The cause of the collapse is under investigation.
