I'm planning a new deck and am leaning towards Azek decking (Kona color). The problem is that I don't like the Azek railing. I prefer the look of an "over the post" rail, something like the TimberTech Builder Rail. I was thinking that I could get this look using the Azek post sleeves/decking and balusters from somewhere like Dekorators. Azek doesn't sell a 2x4 however, and I don't think their standard deck board is thick enough for the balusters.

Has anyone ever done this or have ideas? Thanks in advance.

Two options that we use are either wrapping a treated 2x4 in azek as shown in picture. Or, using a cedar 2x4 and stain to match the rest of components.

The best option would be Correct Deck CX 2x4 or what they call their DCL railing

Here is the link http://www.correctdeck.com/

I am not sure what color your looking for but the 2x4 made by Correct Deck is really nice we have used it many times.

Also if you do use the Correct Deck CX 2x4 - you will need to pre-drill everything Correct Deck CX is really hard. Correct Deck makes their own rail bracket connector you want to use for the top and bottom connection to the posts.
You can use Deckorators rail connectors also but they don't fit as tight as the Correct Deck ones. There Correct Deck 2x4 is a little smaller than a normal 2x4.

Correct Deck"s rail post is not a sleeve it is a true 4x4 with hollowed out middle. again remember that it is really hard so pre-drilling is required.

The Correct CX is just as durable as the Azek

Hope this helps

Good luck with your project

Thanks for the suggestions. CorrectDeck sounds like it would be an easy solution, but I would have to drive a bit to get it.

I found another option on the website of a deck builder (Affordable Decks & Additions). See the attached pictures. It looks like they just sandwiched a dekorators baluster with two deck boards. Any ideas on how to fasten this rail to the post? I sent a message to the builder, so hopefully I will hear back.

I would guess they are pocket hole screwed .. Is that a Azek deck board on edge I would use a squash block under the bottom rails. The Kreg jig is perfect for a connection like that, pre-drill everything
