The following link is the new 38 page Deck Codes that will include all states in one year. http://www.awc.org/Publications/DCA/DCA6/DCA6-09.pdf

Mis-informed and shamelss promotion.

1) IRC does NOT require Everflashing nor any flashing over the top decking. Check it out in your link you provided (Figure 23 and Figure 23a).

2) That's the 2009 IRC you referenced that you incorrectly say will be required by all states in one year!

3) Most local codes (and best demonstrated practices) require flashing 4"-6" above the ledger - Everflashing does not provide that.

4) Everflashing is visible because it lays on top of the decking -- the painted options look fake on top of the decking.

5) Everflashing is way overpriced (does not recoup any add labor savings of bending one's own right-angle flashing)

6) Everflashing is not "bellied" to allow rain run-off on the portion of the flashing between the framing and decking between the joists. DIY flashing allows you to pound a belly to allow rain-runoff.

7) The IRC version is still dictated by the local municipalities (though they very well may choose to adopt 2009 IRC).

Besides, if you want to do a deck the right way, make it free standing and then you don't need any flashing against the house.

It doesn't take a Pro to see the inaccuracies in your posting.

In order to further illustrate my point that 2009 IRC is not required to be adopted by municipalities,

"During the week of July 26th [2010] we were informed the Maryland Attorney General rendered an opinion that counties and municipalities can disregard the Maryland Building Performance Standards and can alter and adopt the IRC as they wish including the lessening of protection requirements."

Yeah, that's 'a big bunch a hooey' [as my uncle used to say]. The username gave you away before I ever read it.
