Pro Deck Builder has changed substantially in the past year. We've made some folks happy, and a couple of others not so much. What do you think? How can we get better?

I believe honest open discussions and expressed opinions always carry the risk of rubbing someone the wrong way. I think we all want to learn more about what we're supposed to do and the risk or problems associated with certain techniques. I really like reading what my counter parts in the industry are doing and the experiences they share. Where else could we gain this industry specific info outside of this magazine? I like the fact that the editor can relate to us because he is a former carpenter who is giving back or contributing to our industry. He doesn't just talk the talk but he walks the walk. I sincerely hope more people will jump in here thru this forum and contrbute information and share their experience with the rest of us. We at some point may voice an opinion that may or may not go over well with someone else or we may say something that we get corrected on later on and eat crow so to speak. I'm an experienced crow eater, and I can tell you it's like any other kind of dish, it's not that bad if you know how to cook it. I know there has to be more deck builders other than just in Texas, Washington, and Georgia. I'm not sure where Bayn and Robert are from but I hope to hera more fron the other 47 states.

Well said !
I think we can all learn from each other if we can humble ourselves enough to listen to another view point other than our own

So far the magazine has been great. I appreciate the heavy leaning towards safety. To many here in Tulsa fail to consider the consequences of mounting a deck poorly. Most of my work explaining why I do things the way I do is helped by leaving an issue with a client for a while.

I've been reading the mag for some time now, but just registered because I saw something that I had a strong opinion on that I HAD to respond to....then I saw this!
I read a lot of trade mags...to the exclusion of most ordinary reads...in my own thinking this is a really, really good read...informative, candid, even humble but with an expertise' flair. I look forward to the issues....thanx.
I guess I can't think of how to improve what I believe is a fine reporting effort with a lot of insight.
