The spammers are back. I figured it out. We gotta post current things or they take over.
I know not all of us are pro deck builders. I'm nainly a Remodeler who likes building custom cabinets and decks a lot. But my work doesn't stay consistant to any one thing. If I get a kitchen remodel call or a fence repair call that's what I do.
So everyone reading this, that arn't strictly in the business of decks but need answers to construction questions should post here. This is a fairly new forum and there's not much negative traffic like JLC getting on you for not being a pro.
I don't have a problem helping someone with a question about there weekend project.
We can fine tune this puppy back to Decks only but for now maybe just get it started with anything so the spammers don't trash it up.

I left that forum years ago because they never talked much about decks, but I never really got the idea that they were elitists....how things change. Can't stand it when those folks show up in any forum.

I've been involved with a lot of forums. This one, although not busy enough, is at least civil. I appreciate that. When I used to moderate Taunton's Breaktime, it literally kept me up at night sometimes. I don't miss that.
And although we're supposed to be professionals here, I don't zap the homeowners. They ask questions. Pros answer. But it's not just the DIYer who asked who benefits from those answers. Everyone reading the thread does. Maybe if we had more active pros, I'd take a different stance. But for now...

So, I guess the question is: How to make the forum busier?...

The more we all participate, the better. And we're trying blogs, as you may know.

yeah, waiting on that link.
Which reminds me- is it going to be possible/easy to set up to have the blogs refer back to websites or, say, Facebook pages? Seems like if that was possible it might lead to a lot of incidental traffic (possibly?).

I think you qualify, David. I'm an ex-pro who went to work for a publisher, and they let me post...
