For providing shade on open decks and patios, Shade Sails are a colorful alternative to a framed roof or a pergola.

Shade Sails don’t need a full frame for support. Instead, they’re tensioned from a few attachment points using the same stainless steel rigging hardware found on sailboats, according to California-based Shazeebo.

Sails can be attached with a variety of brackets, including corner brackets, rafter brackets, and wall plates. Where there are no buildings nearby, the sails can be attached to posts with eye bolts.

The knitted shade cloth comes in 40 colors, is UV resistant, and carries a 10-year warranty.

Sails come in both custom and standard sizes. Standard sails range in price from $195 for a 12-foot by 12-foot by 17-foot triangle to $490 for an 18-foot square. The company also carries a full line of hardware and offers training and design support.

Shazeebo says it has dealership opportunities nationally for deck builders interested in broadening their business offerings.
